GEWOFAG Wohnen GmbH is planning to build several new constructions on plots located along Brantstraße and Siglstraße in the Laim district of Munich. 

The new buildings accommodating various dwelling units and child daycare facilities fit in with the overall character of the area and close an existing gap in the urban fabric. It is required that the child daycare facilities on the site earmarked for the competition are integrated in the future housing structures.

Realisation of the following space allocation programme is intended:

A child daycare located on Brantstraße is to offer a two-group nursery (24 children) and a two-group kindergarten (50 children) on a usable area of approximately 550 m² supplemented by an outdoor playing area of approximately 750 m². Apartments subsidised by a communal housing programme are to be created above the child daycare centre (maximum 30 residential units).

Another child daycare centre is planned for Siglstraße. With a total usable area of about 810 m² and an outdoor playing area of about 1,250 m², the centre will accommodate a two-group nursery (24 children), a two-group kindergarten (50 children) and a two-group after-school care facility (50 children).

An underground car park will provide the necessary parking spaces on a single level.

The fifteen architectural firms invited to participate in the realisation competition, were selected by means of an official award procedure (Vergabeordnung für freiberufliche Leistungen-Verfahren – VOF-V) in line with which the realisation competition was conducted. Entries were evaluated according to criteria including design quality, sustainability, energy efficiency, cost effectiveness, capacity for funding and realisability.
