AGO's senior residences offer living facilities as well as nursing and care services specifically aimed to provide safe conditions for a satisfied life in old age, taking into account the changes associated with moving from an accustomed living environment to a new, assisted-living environment. This may be for a limited period of time in the context of short-term care or for a long-term stay. Communication and communal activities are key elements of an individual living style in combination with full-time supervision.

The AGO Senior Centre is located in the very east of the town of Bergisch Gladbach, in a district called Herkenrath with about 3,800 inhabitants. Situated at the western edge of the low mountain range called Bergisches Land, Herkenrath is an attractive residential municipality with a diversity of individual shops and a broad range of cultural and leisure activities and other services. Herkenrath is embedded in a beautiful natural landscape with a wide variety of recreational offerings, and has good transport connections to the neighbouring towns Bergisch Gladbach, Bensberg and Cologne, as well as the Bergische Land.

The object is an L-shaped 4-storey new building with an extensive window area, completed in October 2010. It is divided into two structures connected by a glazed bridge construction, which can be used both as a passage and as a place to stay a while and enjoy the view. Part of the solid building structure is equipped with a cellar, while all of the attic floors are converted, and there is an underground car park with 11 parking spaces. A maximum of 80 residents are looked after in single rooms that can also be furnished individually. The living units are arranged within living areas on all 4 storeys, each with own common rooms and some with own outside terraces. Accommodated on the ground floor are a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen capable of catering for about 120 persons, and an administrative area. Residents also have access to an own small but well-tended garden.
